Director Strategy & Format Member of the board
I worked for Royal Ahold over 20 years. I held various operational functions and was involved in the strategic choice of Albert Heijn, the Dutch market leader in food, for format differentiation in the late 90s. First I was responsible for the development and implementation of the AH to go convenience store concept. In my last project for Albert Heijn, I was jointly responsible for the repositioning and development of the Albert Heijn supermarket. In 2010, I joined JosDeVries The Retail Company as member of the board as director strategy & format.
I wrote several books about retail, the latest Publications; New retail relevance (2011) and New Customer journey (2014). In 2014 I contributed as chairman of the expert team ‘Retail Concepts’ to the manual of the knowledge platform ‘Shopping 2020, an initiative by the Dutch government
